Rain.

I love the rain. Especially that kind of insane summer rain that comes with lightening and thunder. The kind with raindrops so fat and heavy they almost hurt. The kind that makes everything look like it's behind bars. The kind that leaves the air crisp and clean with the scent of rain in the air. I love that scent.

I don't mind the weather around here changing from almost-too-hot to this. The rain and thunder and clean feeling. Last night I went for a walk. In the rain. In the most insane rain with the sky lightenting up every few minutes followed by a distant growl. The streets were almost completely empty. Even the few cars and taxis around seemed in a hurry to get the hell out of there. I just walked. Might have jumped in a few puddles on the way.

I always miss this kind of rain when summer's over. You can't really enjoy the rain of autumn and winter, at least not outside in the rain. It's just the summertime with it's warmth and the way the rain cleans all the heat and dustyness of the air away. It's like a new beginning.

Or maybe I'm just obsessed with new beginnings. 16 days until my own. And the way my entire life has gone completely down the drain lately... Well, let's just say it's needed.

The rain stopped.
