Joyeux Noël.

It usually takes The Killers to release their annual Christmas-single for me to get that elusive Christmas spirit. This year's is a collaboration with Wild Light and Mariachi El Bronx. Never heard of either, and I must admit I still prefer the first two singles they did in 2006 and 2007 where it was 'just' The Killers and not all these other people. I'm still sort of weirded out by the Elton John and Neil Tennant collaboration from last year.

Anywho. It's almost Christmas! I've only been really listening to one Christmas song of late; Bright Eyes' version of Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas. But I've only really been listening to Bright Eyes in general lately.

As
¡Happy Birthday Guadalupe! is for charity, I suggest you go download the song at iTunes. Instead, here's Bright Eyes.

The Killers on Letterman

I just realized that this is what I'm missing out on in just 3 weeks. They'll be in Denmark, and I'll be at Vesterbro/Start! Festival instead of with them. WHY AM I NOT RICH???

I can't believe I'm missing it. I'm about 90 % sure that I'd start crying if I heard this song live. Like that one song with The Streets that always makes me bawl in the middle of everything.

It's also very pathetic that the idea of missing a band in concert is giving me a knot in my stomach. Like a serious, twisting, twirling knot. Boo. :(

Wtf?

(link)

Kanye West, Jared Leto, and Brandon Flowers? That is so random.

And then Kanye's like; "AND YES THOSE ARE SWAROVSKI CRYSTALS ON BRANDON'S SHIRT .." (Yes in bold and all caps. That is how he rolls, apparantly)

I think Jared needs to get his roots done, and Brandon needs to like.... Not wear Swarovski crystal-covered shirts. I mean... It's very... Glam, I suppose. Goes well with the disco ball synth. But. Wtf?

I got nothing. Just....: <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 !!!!!!!! !!!!!!!! !!!!!!!! (!)

Skive fucking Beach Party? Oh ok.

Tuesday, February 3, 2009

WTF.

The Killers were added to the line-up of fucking SKIVE BEACH PARTY. WHAT THE HELL IS THAT???

It seriously pisses me off because they're obviously not coming back just a month later for Roskilde, then. That just seems silly and unlikely. AND THAT SUCKS.

I sort of want to go to Skive now, which is fucked, because I can barely get the funds for a Roskilde ticket as it is, and bla bla fucking blah. Stupid. And I was SO nice about the above pictured outfit for the Spaceman video. Had an entire (drunk) post written about the stupidity of it, but I decided not to be so mean, because I love them and all. But now I'm just mad enough to post this ridiculous and entirely unrelated picture JUST BECAUSE HE LOOKS LIKE AN IDIOT. IN A SPACEMAN SUIT. WITH FEATHERS.

I'm starting to get a little too excited about that caps lock key, so, in other news: Emmy The Great's new album came out yesterday and it's pretty, though I think I like the old demo versions better. I had my first real class today and I think I'm going to throw up the next time someone asks me to analyze an Obama speech. Also went to brunch with a bunch of my classmates, talking about movies for almost two hours. Tomorrow I'm having lunch between classes with my favorite New Yorker, and then I get to see the insides of the new DR "koncerthus", which is pretty exciting. Hope they'll let me take photos. It's supposed to be pretty.

I'm rambling. I'll just go away and watch the new episodes of How I Met Your Mother, House, and Gossip Girl back to back.

XOXO!

Joseph, Better You Than Me.

And here it is. The Killers, Elton John, and Neil Tennant - Joseph, Better You Than Me.

Haven't got much to say about this yet. I've listened to it about 10 times and I've still not decided what I really think about it. Which tells me it isn't impressing.

I miss the sense of humor from A Great Big Sled and Don't Shoot Me Santa.

Leak of the Day.

It's here. The Killers' new album, Day & Age, was released in iTunes/Japan for download and was quickly all over the Internet.

I've had a pretty fucked up day so I didn't do my daily google routine (I've been doing the "the killers"+day+age+leak search at least a few times a day for the last week) but my friend passed me a link. After much cursing at my unbelievably slow internet connection, it was there. I might've "woo'ed" (ref. the latest How I Met Your Mother episode - seriously, how great was that??)

I'm presently about 2/3 through my first listen. I've immediately taken a liking to This Is Your Life and the just-now-finished Neon Tiger. I went "WTF" at Joy Ride, but I think that's gonna be one of the great ones as well.

I'm so excited! It's showing so much potential. I already like it better than Sam's Town (though that isn't hard to accomplish.)

Anywho. I'm still spooked about Blogger removing posts, so no MP3s. Go here or here, or whereever, though. Get the album. And then just buy the damn thing in just a few days, mkay?

Btw, see the feathered coat again? Apparently it's made by "a woman who goes by Mrs. Jones" (link to interview) who's also made clothes for Kylie Minouge and Scissor Sisters. Which explains a lot, if you ask me.

Also. Lookie here and here. I have no further comment.

Possibly The Greatest Thing Ever.

Now. Brandon, Ronnie, Dave, and Mark? JUST COME BACK TO DENMARK!

(MP3 here, because I'm already in love with this)

Spaceman.

It's been 3 days since the second song from the upcoming The Killers album, Day & Age, became available for download, and, well. Just... OMG.

I love it. I really, really love it. This was the feeling I expected from Human but alas, did not get right away. I do love Human, but it was definitely more of a grower. This one is instant love.

TWO WEEKS until the record is released in Australia (+2 days in UK and +3 days in the US - what's up with that), AND I'M SO EXCITED!!!! I won't be able to wait for the release here in Denmark, which I'm guessing is the same as the UK releasedate(?), so thank God it's out earlier Down Under as that means earlier leakage. Though I really can't wait to get the album in my hands. I have a thing for album booklets and their artwork.

I'd post a link/MP3 but Blogger is being a bi*ch these days, removing posts left and right. Go here instead.

SO EXCITED!

New Video!

The Killers - Human.

I'll be the first to admit that I just. Don't. Get it.

Flowers is even wearing his (apparantly) favorite coat with the feathers on the shoulders. Which is... Yeah. Doesn't make me love the song any less, though.

--

So it's Friday night and all my friends are out of town. So tonight I'll be here. All alone. Or, all alone with Factory45 and their pretty fans.

Day & Age.

So. They premiered the artwork for the new album, "Day and Age" with The Killers.

I am very happy I'm not colorblind.

RE: The Killers on Saturday Night Live.

Since I'm on a completely different continent, I don't get to watch SNL until Sunday normally. As I was too busy Sunday to, well.. Acquire this weekend's show, I didn't watch it until yesterday. I was especially looking forwards to Tina Fey's reprise as Sarah Palin and, of course, the performance of The Killers.

So Anne Hathaway (who did an awesome job hosting, btw. I think I might've fallen a little bit in love with her. She's funny, pretty, and plain awesome.) introduced them and my first thought was, "Why does Brandon Flowers look so uncomfortable?"

That is just one of the more awkward poses he did, and the (crap, sorry) picture doesn't even show it properly. He seemed extremely nervous the entire way through "Human". It was just strange.

And then I noticed his shoulders. HIS FEATHERY SHOULDERS. Here's a close-up.

What is that?! WHY ARE THERE FEATHERS ON HIS SHOULDERS? It's all I could think about through the entire performance. That, and his looking so uncomfortable and nervous, and completely unlike the entertainer I remember from the two times I've seem them live.

But, you know. Then he makes this face:

...and it's like it's all okay again. I've forgiven the glittery, golden suits. The 'stache. And I can forgive him for the feathers too. Suddenly they really don't seem that bad. They kind of suit him, don't they?

And the closing performance of "Spaceman" was just awesome. Definitely less awkwardsness and more fun. And even if the songs lyrics are completely silly and make no sense (seriously, alien abduction? Really??) it's such a cool track. And extremely catchy.

I'm getting more and more psyched about this album coming out. And "Human" actually turned out to be quite a grower. Despite my initial dissappointment, I sort of love it now.

When You Were Young.

(music starts at about 1 min)

I seriously, seriously, SERIOUSLY love this version. It's beautiful.

And, regarding "Human"... It might've grown on me. A lot.

Very, very excited for "Day and Age" come November 25th.

'night.

Are We Human?

Or are we dancers? (Or does he sing "denser"? The Internet and my ears are not in agreement, here)

So The Killers, my alltime favorite band, has released their first single from the upcoming "Day and Age" album, which I believe is set for November 25th. And well... I don't know.

I really, really, REALLY want to like this song. I want to love it. But that doesn't seem to be happening. At first listen I felt very apathetic. I just didn't care for it. So I decided to let it get the opportunity to grow on me through putting it on repeat for about an hour and a half. I mean, I was so very dissappointed in "Sam's Town" when that first came out, and it took me half a dozen listens to the entire album to like it.

So I listened to it 21 times on repeat. And yes, I like it. I get the direction they're taking their music, with the synths of Hot Fuss and the grand feeling of Sam's Town. I can respect that.
But as much as I want to really love this track? I just don't. But I do like it, and I'll probably listen to it quite a lot until the album come out, or they release a second single from it.

It is The Killers. Which is love.

Like a Needle in a Haystack.

The Streets's new album, Everything Is Borrowed, is out on Monday. Today most of the album was posted on good ol' MySpazzzz along with a blog saying that 4 additional tracks of the album are posted on other bands' pages. So good hunting.
I've got 3/4. I like Strongest Person I Know the best so far, which is posted on The Rifles's page. (Others are on Does This Offend You, Yeah and Delphic's pages, btw). Haven't got around to listening to the ones actually posted on The Streets's own page, but I'll set time aside for doing that and only that tomorrow after class.

I haven't been this excited for ANY new album since The Killers released Sam's Town back in 2006. But I project that I'll be equally (if not more) psyched about them releasing Day and Age come November/December.

I've spent my day today in Latin American History, eating bagels with a couple girls from class, shopping a few dresses (maybe I'll post pics some other time, maybe not), and watching Gossip Girl.

XOXO

One, Two, Three, Four.

I'm a very strange mood. It's apparantly so strange that it is noticable for others than me. Jack called and he thought I was drunk. I am no such thing. But I WILL BE.

I'm so incredibly bored. It's pretty bad. Really, really bad. All I do is work and just... nothing. I walk a lot. I mean, A LOT. 2-4 hour stretches. Just me, my iPod, and 50 % raspberry / 25 % tropical / 25 % pineapple flavored slurpees from 7/11 (TRUST ME, that is THE BEST combination. I've tried 'em all.) .. I just walk and peoplewatch and silently move my lips to the songs I listen to, sometimes with a dancemove or two added when I see fit (and yes, those last two things make people stare at me like I'm a crazy person, but what the hell do they know, anyway?)

Today's been especially bad. I've been so bloody restless. I just need to chill the fuck out, but I'm not particularly, umm... Available? for chilling. I am available for drinking, on the other hand. Very much so.

I desperately texted everybody I know (or maybe just about 3 people) and now I am getting drunk at a party. I have no idea where it is or with whom I will be performing this action (except Dominik, who is my link to said party). All I know is that it might not be a smart idea with the way I'm feeling. It's actually a crap idea. Really fucking stupid.

But who really cares, anyway? Who cares that I've got to be at work tomorrow at 7AM? It'll be fiiiine. It's not like I have to do anything that actually requires a brain.

I should probably cook some dinner, since I haven't eaten since breakfast (except for the chocolate I get from the old people that like me at work (seriously, old people LOVE me. Who knew?)). And. My point was? Oh right, I should eat. To create a proper foundation for later.

I'll catch you mothereffers on the flipside, yo.

PS: Fuck all will ever top this band.
