Joyeux Noël.

It usually takes The Killers to release their annual Christmas-single for me to get that elusive Christmas spirit. This year's is a collaboration with Wild Light and Mariachi El Bronx. Never heard of either, and I must admit I still prefer the first two singles they did in 2006 and 2007 where it was 'just' The Killers and not all these other people. I'm still sort of weirded out by the Elton John and Neil Tennant collaboration from last year.

Anywho. It's almost Christmas! I've only been really listening to one Christmas song of late; Bright Eyes' version of Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas. But I've only really been listening to Bright Eyes in general lately.

As
¡Happy Birthday Guadalupe! is for charity, I suggest you go download the song at iTunes. Instead, here's Bright Eyes.

Update.

I have not been a good blogger lately.

Instead of any kind of substantial posting, I give you a few random photos from the last few weeks + random tracks.

Telling extremely exciting stories to Carsten at my workplace's party. Open bar, permanent beer stains on that white tee, very few memories.

Jacob and Emil post-baking of our infamous BACON CAKE. Disgusting.

Karen a.k.a. Coolio. We spent our entire freshman-trip dancing on a mostly empty dancefloor.

Maverick + Goose, Emil + Jacob, Jack + Ennis.

Blurry Ida.

Ciao Transizta - Cover My Ass
The Used - Light With A Sharpened Edge

Mescalin, Baby + new song = awesomeness.

Seriously. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant, and I'm suddenly way more dissappointed with myself for not making it to their gig Saturday. That was just silly.

Untitled no. 1967,8.

Today, while I was working, my iPod decided to magically turn on and play Factory45's debut album over and over again until I got off. I wasn't even listening to it when I arrived, so I take this as a hint from my iPod that I should've mentioned the album a while ago. Which is probably true.

Lookie, lookie, there's nakedness on the cover!:

I guess the reason I haven't gotten around to it, is that it sort of disappointed me. And I really expected to love it, truly, honestly, I did. But I didn't. And I hate writing negative reviews, so let's just mention the good things.

- "Sweet Meat", "Love Scent", and "Untitled no. 6" are really, really good.
- The album art and booklet are pretty fucking awesome (you go, M.)
- Look! NAKED PEOPLE.

I still maintain that they're one of the best live bands in Denmark. It's always a fucking blast. And I honestly don't feel in any sort of position to be criticizing anything, seriously, who am I to do that?

I'll shut up now.

ARE YOU HAPPY NOW, iPOD!?

Song Of The Day, The Week, The Month, The Year.

Arctic Monkeys - Cornerstone MP3

The open bar last night hit harder than expected. I remember doing Wonderwall as a karaoke duet. I remember it being filmed, standing in front of a blue screen spilling beer everywhere. Here's to that never making it online.

I remember this song on YouTube, repeat repeat repeat, as the night ended way differently than planned on a balcony somewhere in the city, the rain pounding down.

I have no idea how to deal with work after seeing my bosses dance to Lady Gaga.

Festival Song (Or "Whine" Might Be More Appropriate)

It's just not fair. All the other major music festivals are getting it SO right this year. Now look at Lollapalooza. What I wouldn't give to go. Just like I'd have given my right arm to have attended Coachella last weekend. Or to go to Benicassim. Or any of the the UK ones.

And then here, there's Roskilde. And I'm sorry, but it's just not up to par! I made my usual lists last week, dividing the acts I want to see into 4 categories. My A1 category (which is the OMGZ YESSSS-category) has one act. ONE ACT. And then the next one only has 4. And it's just not something I'm willing to pay 1700DKK to do. It's like my standards keep falling each year. Last year I was about 50/5o - music/social. Seriously, it used to be much more like 75/25. This year I can't justify spending my entire vacations savings on stumbling around wasted for 7 days straight.

But, you know, it's ROSKILDE. As if I can really stay away. I can't even imagine sitting at home, knowing that it's going on without me. And thus, I've signed up for volunteer work. I hope I get it. I really afford it, and I do love Roskilde.

Unless anyone wants to donate a Lollapalooza ticket? And travelling expenses? Come on, anyone?

Twitter #2.

Fuck, Twitter is awesome.

Mike Skinner/The Streets has posted a song per day both yesterday and the day before. And promised another one today. Obviously it's mostly for fun, but fuck, I think they're pretty good anyway. (But then you can legitimately doubt that I'll ever dissprove much of anything he does.)

The Streets - Trust Me MP3
The Streets - I Love My Phone MP3

Trust Me is pretty neat, and I Love My Phone reminds me something that could easily have fit into Original Pirate Material. And that's a major compliment.

**update**

Third track is up: The Streets - David Hassles MP3
Haven't had a chance to listen to it, I'm headed out for beer and later Sha La Las. But the first three seconds sounded neat-o.

It's so sweet. And she's fun to follow on Twitter. Yes. I'm so there.

Favorite famous people to follow (in no particular order):
Ingrid Michaelson
Ashton Kutcher
Mark Hoppus
Travis Barker
Russel Brand
John Mayer
Mike Skinner
Lily Allen
And the one, the only - Ryan Seacrest (I love that man)

I'm off to meet my brother for a bit of shopping and probably Fast and Furious (4) at the movies. Did you know that Vin Diesel had two short movies submitted into Sundance Festival (and one other I don't remember) before he had his big breakthrough? That man is awesome.

Fruit.

The Asteroids Galaxy Tour is finally putting out their debut album, "Fruit", in May (though it's apparantly impossible to find out the exact date). Anyway, the album leaked a little while ago, an while it might not be in its final form, it is what it is. And it's fucking goooood. I've been kicking myself ever since last summer where I missed them at Roskilde Festival. And again, I've missed them a bunch of times where I really wanted to go, but alas, everything is always fucked up at the last minutes, there are millions of apologies, and they're all bad. Digressing, here, so. My point is: I think it's awesome. It's quite unlike most of the music I listen to, actually. It's so bloody funky and Mette Lindberg's vocals are amazingly cool. I put it on, and I want to dance. It makes me smile, and it makes me do tiny dancemoves when I'm walking around down the street with my headphones on. Any music that does that get a thumbs up from me.

This band and their album are so hyped up (what with the iPod ad, the airplay on Gossip Girl, etc), but they deserve every bit of it.

In The Valley

You can currently download a bunch of Tobias Winberg/Death Valley Sleepers' music over here, at Hits In The Car. It's really quite good. I'm sort of annoyed with myself as I've had the opportunity to see it live several times - and for free - but I've been putting it off. No more. Next time, I'll be there.

Don't Fall Backwards.

I must admit that I never understood the entire Pete Doherty obsession. I mean, sure, The Libertines were alright. Never cared much for Babyshambles. And I've never really paid attention to his solo work, simply because I thought he was way too messed up to do anything decent. I was always fascinated by him, though. Or, at least of the phenomena that is Pete Doherty. His scrambling YouTube videos, sometimes partnered with Amy Winehouse (very entertaining indeed). The mess that always seemed to follow him, wherever he went.

Back to the point. I really like his new album, Grace/Wastelands. As in, reallyreally like. His songwriting is back to par - the lyrics are amazing. And the music is just... It's simple, but it fits the songwriting.

Definitely looking forwards to seeing him at the Søren Solkær Starbird exhibition, Closer (which, btw, is something I'm really looking forwards to seeing in general - his work is amazing!). I'm also sort of excited to photograph him. Doherty, that is. Should be fun.

Wasted.

I find it a little strange that the day I really discover Angus & Julia Stone is almost exactly a year after the release date of their album, "A Book Like This". It's like, I've heard it before, listened to some of their songs, but I never actually noticed them before. Now I did. And now I'm in love.

It's so beautiful. Especially the tracks "Wasted" and "Just A Boy". Especially "Wasted". Seriously, I'm almost embarrassed by the number of times I've had it on repeat for more than an hour. But it's sooo good. Sooooooooo good. K? (I've got a feeling I'm going to love almost all the songs on this album at different times. I already think I know which one's next.)

But the entire album is amazing, so just get that.

How can you not fall completely in love with this?? :

I miss their concert. It's totally on my top 3 list of concerts in 2008. So amazing. And I got my first (kinda) published photo out of it. (Not the above, unfortunately. That's all the brilliant Guy Eppel's doing) And of course this fucking fabulous Leonard Cohen cover:

winter turned to spring.

the snow is gone. GONE! and look what I found today:

on Sunday, it'll be March. March as in SPRING. I feel my mood improving exponentially already, just from that realization.

After falling completely in love with She & Him, I gave M. Ward a second chance. I might've ended up loving his solo effort more than their collaborative work (Zooey Dechanel's voice, lovely as it is, gets a little tiring after a while). Anyway. M. Ward! His newest album, Hold Time, is nothing short of amazing. And it's absolutely perfect for walking along the lakes of Copenhagen with rosy cheeks, my usually black coat completely white in the front because of the constant snowfall.

Whatever season is current always ends up my favorite in the city. In the summer I love lounging in the parks with friends and slurpees. In the fall the colors are absolutely stunning. Now, in the winter, I love the snowfall and sort of even enjoy the refreshing cold. And in the spring, everything is just.. Bubbly.

Tomorrow I'm leaving an hour earlier than I really have to, just to take a walk around the hopefully at least semi-untouched white city. I'm all excited and shit.

I have no idea where the depressing emo kid that posted yesterday came from. She went away, though, as soon as I was on the train and headed for the city. Should've known it was the suburbs getting me down. Also, Caspian & The Good Times helped. Their music is so darn pretty it gives me the chills. I can see myself growing addicted to their live shows, though I'll try to keep it less than, say, Factory45. Haha.

Also saving my mood yesterday was this girl:

Again, haha!

All in all, it was a really great night. Beautiful music, beer and girly talk, Din Nye Ven, Floss, and some quite weird texts in my cell's outbox. I was obviously horribly teenage-drunk, but hey! That's my favorite kind.

Also a favorite, especially live:
